Background

In summer of 2016, Homayoun Yousefi'zadeh and Amr Albanna co-founded CellOnyx after conducting nearly two years of cutting-edge focused research at the University of California, Irvine.

Led by the co-founders, the innovative team of CellOnyx consists of driven scientists and engineers with decades of experience in cellular industry aided by executives of the same industry.

Homayoun Yousefi'zadeh

Dr. Homayoun Yousefi'zadeh, CEO and Co-Founder of CellOnyx, has more than twenty-five years of entrepreneurial, hands-on, and management experience in network storage, media streaming, wireless, and cellular industries. In the recent past, he was a Chief Technologist at the Boeing Company and the Founder/CTO of TierFleet. He is also an Adjunct Professor of the University of California, Irvine. An inventor of many US patents and a publisher of more than 80 scholarly reviewed articles, he is the recipient of multiple industry and academic excellence awards. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Southern California in 1997.

Amr Albanna

Dr. Amr Albanna, President and Co-Founder of CellOnyx, has over 25 years of experience in the cellular industry specializing in GSM, TDMA, CDMA, UMTS, LTE, DAS, Small Cells, and WiFi systems. Most recently, he was the Co-Founder/CEO of Omega Wireless and a Senior RF Engineering Manager at T-Mobile USA. At Omega Wireless, he worked on design and implementation of in-building solutions in major venues and stadiums including Super Bowl 2015 Cardinals stadium. He was the recipient of peak achievement, best team, and best innovation awards at T-Mobile USA. He received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine in 2018.

Brian Jones

Mr. Brian Jones, Business Advisory Board member of CellOnyx, is a former Senior Executive of Air Touch Cellular (now Verizon), Pacific Telesis, AT&T, Bell Canada, and Saudi Telecom. He is an experienced board member of a number of start-ups with experience in building strong leadership teams, international business and mergers and acquisitions. Brian has an MBA from the University of Western Ontario, London Ontario, Canada. He is a Board Leadership Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors.
